I currently serve as an adjunct faculty at GateWay Community College, AZ, and a Ph.D. intern for Dr. George Thomas at the School of Politics and Global Studies, Arizona State University. In this role, I collect data and research on the topic of religious rights discourse in international conferences of religious organizations and carry out bibliographical searches for religious presence in civil society in different nation-state regimes.
I completed my Ph.D. in Political Science in the School of Politics and Global Studies at Arizona State University in May 2023, majoring in International Relations and Comparative Politics. My research and teaching interests include religion and politics, comparative politics, and international religious institutions. My dissertation examines the influence of global evangelical movements on motivations and practices of local religious actors, particularly Korean foreign missionaries, and why they are mobilized to high-risk countries such as Muslim ones. Other ongoing projects include the states’ perception of threats of religious actors and potential conflicts, and comparative studies of political implications of transnational religious activities in high-risk countries.
I have taught two courses, Comparative Politics and American National Government. I served as the teaching assistant for online and in-person undergraduate courses, Comparative Politics, Political Ideologies, and International Political Economy. My B.A. and M.A. are from Yonsei University, South Korea. I have presented my work at multiple conferences, including APSA, MPSA, and SSSR.
